Hello Koalas comes to Campbelltown

The Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail is an award-winning public art project coming to south-west Sydney for the first time and hosted by Campbelltown City Council and the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan from 1 – 30 April 2021.

The trail encompasses over 20 one-metre high fibreglass koala sculptures designed and painted by Australian artists, in a blend of arts and culture, heritage and environmental themes.

This is the first time this exhibition has been to south-west Sydney. Last year was the first time the sculptures were taken outside of Port Macquarie when it traveled to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney.

It’s fitting as Campbelltown is Koalatown. We are home to a healthy, growing population of wild koalas, understood to be at 300 and increasing. They roam around our bushlands and National parks.

This trail aims to promote koala conservation and conservation of other threatened animal and plant species in Australia, aligning with the initiatives and programs promoted by Koalatown.

We hope that this program helps highlight the importance of koala conservation and bring awareness to our local koalas.
It is also a cultural experience that highlights the visual expressions of many cultures that are part of our Australian community.

There will be six koalas across four of council’s facilities.

  • Campbelltown Civic Centre – Mayor of the Koala Republic
  • Visitor Information Centre – Jimmy
  • Ingleburn Library – Koala Boy
  • Campbelltown Arts Centre – Guula, Komorebi and Kalido
