Get on your bikes and rejoice, the Mountain Bike Trails in the Australian Botanic Garden are back!
The trails closed in May 2017 due to the discovery of the invasive African Olive weed growing along the course. Since then The Wollondilly Macarthur Mountain Bike Club and their volunteer trail fairies have been working tirelessly to clear out the weed and make the trails rideable again. With assistance from the Australian Botanic Garden and funding from the NSW Government and IMB Bank, the trails are truly some of the best in the region.
The Kids Loop (one kilometre) and Family Loop (3.9 kilometre) trails are easy courses for the whole family. The trails are generally smooth with some obstacles and challenges. Suitable for beginner riders and families.
The Intermediate Loop (2.5 kilometres) is suitable for mountain bikers with moderate skill.
The Advanced Loop (3.9 kilometres) trail is rated intermediate with difficult sections. Includes 70 metres of elevation, jumps, berms, rock gardens, and rock drops and can be fast in some sections. It is suitable for riders with a medium-high level of mountain biking skills. However, it is rideable by most riders exercising some caution on the features or using the B-lines.
